New Garage door in Goole

ABi, the garage doors specialist, continue to help the wider community as they went to Goole to change the garage door for Mr Wood.

He called on ABi’s experience and manufacturing expertise to fit him with a new SWS seceuroshield manually operated roller door, with a spring and lock operation.

Due to the current external features of the house in Goole, he asked ABi to finish it in brown, which is one of many colours that they can offer, including white, to tie-in-with any external colourings. (more…)

Hormann MD to do charity bike ride

ABi suppliers Hormann are delighted to announce that their managing Director David Newcombe is to get on his bike this month, all in the aid of charity.

The bike ride will see Newcombe and three others go from the most westerly point in Ireland to the most easterly point of England. (Dingle in Ireland to Lowerstoft in Suffolk) (more…)

Garages – In or Out?

With many families now having more than the previous one car in the family, who gets the garage or the space on the driveway is becoming more of a headache.

Yet after some research, ABI have found that many families don’t actually use their garages for cars at all.

Findings from Men and Motors have found that in the last 10 years, when 33% of families used their garage for their car, have fallen dramatically. (more…)

Average House Prices Rise

In certain parts of Britain, house prices are rising at their fastest rate for three years.

According to the Halifax, in June 2013 the average price of a home was 3.7% higher than the same time last year. Martin Ellis, the group’s chief economist said, “Improved confidence in the housing market and the economy, combined with a shortage of properties available for sale, appear to be pushing up prices.”

However, some analysts and property experts have warned that this trend does not extend to all parts of the county. For example, Halifax also reported that in the North West, house prices are still falling at around 3.4% a year, and in Scotland the cost of property is 5.5% lower this year than it was in 2012. DHF launch guide to door security

The Door & Hardware Federation, in partnership with the Glass & Glazing Federation, has launched its most comprehensive guide to domestic door security.

The ‘Best Practice Guide for Specifying Security Hardware for Doors’ has been produced for tradesmen and companies working within the door, security, building, glazing, window and locksmith industries.

Included in the guide is a detailed description of which locks and security products meet the required standards, including multi-point locks and the most up to date versions of electro-mechanical keyless locks. Advice and direction on components such as cylinders, door security handles, door restrictors, viewers and letterboxes is also presented in the guide, which can be downloaded from the DHF website. Fifteen Garages broken into in one night

On one night last week, thieves broke into and stole the contents from 15 garages in a small village near Bolton, Lancashire. Items taken included bikes, tools, fishing equipment and garden furniture.

The victims of the theft woke up on Sunday morning to find their garage doors had been forced open, and whilst larger items had not been taken, many smaller items such as tools had been the target. (more…)
