Nowadays, mobile phones can do just about anything. We can use them to take photos, record videos, browse the internet, send e-mails, play games, wake us up, check our bank balance, tune a guitar, find our way home, remind us to feed to the cat, check train times, ensure a car hasn’t been stolen, calculate currency conversions, bid on online auctions – even monitor our heart rates . And now, thanks to Samsung and their new Cetus SGH-i917, we can use our mobile phones to open our garage door.
It may seem like the last thing you’d want your mobile phone to do, but ask anybody with a remote-operated garage door and they’ll tell you that having the remote control “inside” their mobile phone would actually be quite handy. This is where the home control system featured on the Samsung Cetus SGH-i917 steps in, as a miracle of home automation; capable of turning the lights off and on, changing TV channels and, of course, opening the garage door, it eliminates the need for multiple pesky remote control, which are forever getting lost. Of course, should you lose or break your mobile phone, you’re in a bit of a pickle.
Ah well, these are the prices we pay to stay high-tech! (Is high-tech still a modern word?)
