Up & Over Garage doors are available in two types of door gear:
Retractable mechanism
A retractable door is guided by horizontal tracks inside the garage and retracts completely when fully opened.
Retractable doors are easy to fit and can be automated with no loss of practicality or space.
Retractable door gear is available for all sizes of garage door.
Canopy mechanism
A canopy up and over garage door is very easy to fit, mounting into vertical tracks on the side frame of the door therefore using less space than a retractable mechanism.
When fully open a third of the door projects out of the garage opening forming a canopy. As a canopy mechanism does not swing open in the same way as a retractable, less space is needed to open the door.
However, CONVERTING a canopy door from manual to automatic is NOT advised as the conversion kit will drastically reduce the opening height of the door.
PLEASE NOTE: canopy doors are not available for double-door sizes. (9’0” or wider)
You gain more space
Sectional doors open vertically upwards and are suspended under the ceiling to save space. This constructional principle means you can make full use of the space inside and in front of the garage for parking.
They increase the passage
Because sectional doors are fitted behind the structural opening, they make virtually the full passage height and width available to you.
This is especially important for vans, transporters and larger off-road vehicles.
They can be fitted to any garage
The shape of the structural opening is no longer of prime importance.
Whether square, angled with segmental or full centred arch, a sectional door always gives a perfect fit.
A vertically opening sectional door also presents the best solution for properties on the building line, where the garage door is not permitted to swing outwards.
Vertically rolling garage doors allow you to park right up to the door, both within the garage and on the driveway. They are ideal for short driveways or where your garage opens onto the road.
As the door can be installed behind the garage opening roller doors are perfect for any shape of garage entrance – even arched openings.
The tightly coiling curtain design achieves maximum drive through height to accommodate tall off road vehicles or people carriers, whilst the option to install the door behind the garage opening gives the widest possible opening
The door does not intrude into overhead storage space within the garage and with no ‘kick-out’, every inch of your driveway can be used.
Side hinged doors offer a more traditional ‘barn-door’ option, with either a centre or off centre split. The access door can be positioned to either side of the main door. Options such as door-stays are available to secure opened doors in windy conditions, as well as details such as brass hinges and brass letterboxes.
Certain sizes and designs of GRP and sectional doors can accommodate a ‘wicket’ door which allows easy access to the garage without opening the whole door.
Steel doors are manufactured to the highest standards of quality and finish and are available in a comprehensive range of size, style and colour, which makes it very easy to integrate the appearance of a door into any environment.
They are extremely secure and need very little maintenance, with tough finishes that are not only attractive but durable.
Steel doors are available as a ‘single skin’ or as a ‘double skin’ insulated door for extra thermal and noise insulation.
The natural beauty of crafted wood has a lasting appeal that will enhance any home.
Covering a range of traditional and modern styles, all timber doors are crafted to a high specification and are pre-treated at the factory to protect them against insect and fungal attack. It is also possible to have timber doors manufactured to your own original design.
In support of conservation all timber doors use material obtained from properly managed forest sources where there is a continuous replanting process.
Assembled from twin walled aluminium slats enclosing CFC-free foam insulation (to reduce heat and sound transmission), aluminium doors need very little maintenance due to a tough powder coated finish that is not only attractive but durable with excellent resistance to colour fading and abrasion.
Glass Reinforced Polyester (also known as fibreglass) is tough, flexible and durable. Finely moulded detail and exceptionally high quality finishes give a look and feel of beauty and distinction whilst being virtually maintenance free.
There are a large number of styles to choose from, ranging from rustic designs to modern panels designed to emulate the texture of natural wood.
A ‘double skin’ insulated door offers extra thermal and noise insulation to help with energy efficiency and lower heating costs.
Enclosing CFC-free foam insulation within two separate walls, insulated doors can turn your garage into a much more usable and pleasant space - particularly when the garage is connected to the house.
